The Humble Snail TTBB
words and music by Elizabeth Sidebotham
Life’s too short to worry, life’s too short to stress
Life’s too short to hurry and with speed a snail’s not blest
He will find a path and take it where it curiously may lead.
Compared with most the humble snail is very slow indeed
He creeps around the garden. Terrestial mollusc of the night
No courting rituals for this hermaphrodite.
A moonbeam bounces off his shell and lights his silver trail.
No sight, no sound nor smell when you’re just a humble snail .
Life’s too short to worry, life’s too short to stress.
Life’s too short to hurry and with speed a snail’s not blest
Compared with most the humble snail is very strange indeed
Beneath the moss, in leafy cool the humble snail’s at rest
Perhaps he dreams of comfrey and of juicy watercress.
Cos life’s too short to worry, life’s too short to stress.
