Jongleurs SSA

words and music by Elizabeth Sidebotham

Here we are, we’re the jongleurs, we have come to entertain you tonight, dancing, cue music, juggling, cue action, making you smile tonight.                                                                                                           We have travelled widely from farm to country house and now we’re here to entertain you. Look under your hat you’ll find a mouse, ha, ha ha                                                                                                     Throw it, I’ll catch it. catch it in a basket. Gone in a puff of smoke.  We’re here to entertain you, here to make you laugh, we are the acrobats, monkeys with silly hats    Look how we trip and fall about. I can eat fire on a tight rope wire.    Gone in a puff of smoke.

Here we are, we’re the jongleurs. We’ll be gone quite soon. You may say that we are nothing but buffoons, play that tune again.                                                                                                                      Our instruments are strange, our performing dog has mange, but we can please with our circus fleas.   so give us a chance tonight.                                                                                                                       We’re artistes and instrumentalists, jugglers and acrobats, magicians, clowns and jesters, conjuring tricks and animal acts.

Jongleurs, but we won’t be staying long. I can balance on a chair, toss rings by the pair, throw knives in the air and catch them.                                                                                                                          Jongleurs, acrobats too, jugglers, jesters, minstrels and clowns, jumping, tumbling, eating fire on a tight rope wire. Gone in a puff, gone in a puff, gone in a puff of smoke.
