Shadows

Shadows  TTBB

words and music by Elizabeth Sidebotham
Hide within the shadow, turn your face away
Where sunlight cannot find you
Nor the colours of the day.
Afraid of garish lights that could blind you
With a silver flash as cold as steel
Or the rainbows in a crystal
On a kaleidoscopic wheel
Only those who seek it find all the treasure on earth
It’s not for those who hide in the shadow
Never knowing their true worth.
Every cloud has its sunny side if only we could see
And every cloud casts a shadow as it moves,
As it moves over land and sea
So hide within the shadow, turn your face away
Where sunlight cannot find you
Are you safe?  In the shadow will you stay?
Don’t be afraid. The light may dazzle you.
Don’t be afraid of how it will feel
To follow rainbows in a crystal
On a kaleidoscopic wheel,
To follow rainbows in a crystal
On a kaleidoscopic wheel
Take a step or two out of the shadow
Into an ever turning world.
On the tree of life we are branches.
Let a brand new leaf unfurl.
On the tree of life we are branches.
Let a brand new leaf unfurl.
